The Robots Are As Big As The Screen In A Transformers 4 IMAX Poster

March 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

transformers-4-poster5
As you’d expect for such a massive movie, Transformers: Age Of Extinction is getting an IMAX release, and to make sure everyone knows, a poster for the IMAX version has been released. As you’d expect it’s showing just how big it’s going to be, with robots so massive they can’t even fit in the frame.

As you probably know by now, there’s a complete change of the human cast. Mark Wahlberg will play Cade, the father of Nicol Peltz’s Tessa. Jack Reynor meanwhile is Tessa’s boyfriend, Shane. Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles and Bingbing Li also star, with Michae Bay once more directing.

The movie will be out in cinemas in late June in the US and early July in the UK.

New Noah Trailer – With added Emma Watson intro

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

)
A lot of the coverage of Noah has centred around Paramount’s difficulties promoting it to a religious audience, due to the fact it’s not the comfy, cost biblical movie they might have been expecting (although in some respects it’s actually closer to the Bible than some Christians would like, but they’d prefer to edit out the bits that they don’t like – and for many if they haven’t heard it in church, it doesn’t exist).

It’s only a few weeks until we all get to see what the fuss is about, and now a new trailer has arrived, which starts with an Emma Watson introduction before blasting us with flood related action.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky, and featuring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Anthony Hopkins and Logan Lerman, Noah is set for UK release on 4 April 2014, with the US release a week earlier. [Read more…]

Almost Home’ Animated Short – First look at the aliens of Dreamworks Animation’s upcoming film

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Dreamworks Animation has had a rather hit and miss couple of years. While The Croods was a hit, the recent Mr Peabody & Sherman may result in an $85 million loss for the studio. They’re obviously hoping to avoid a repeat with the upcoming Home, as rather than just releasing a few pics and a trailer as our introduction to the movie, we get a four-minute short film which you can watch above.

Here’s the movie’s synopsis: ‘When Earth is taken over by the overly-confident Boov, an alien race in search of a new place to call home, all humans are promptly relocated, while all Boov get busy reorganizing the planet. But when one resourceful girl, Tip, (Rihanna) manages to avoid capture, she finds herself the accidental accomplice of a banished Boov named Oh (Jim Parsons). The two fugitives realize there’s a lot more at stake than intergalactic relations as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime.’

Home will feature the voices of the likes of Rihanna, Jim Parsons, Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez. It’s due to hit cinemas December 2014. [Read more…]

James Corden & Tom Riley Will Kill Your Friends

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-riley-da-vincis-demonLast week it was revealed that Nicholas Hoult and Jim Piddock had signed up to star in Kill Your Friends. Now production has started and it’s been revealed they have plenty of company, as Craig Roberts (Submarine), Tom Riley (‘Da Vinci’s Demons’), Georgia King (‘The New Normal’), Joseph Mawle (Half of a Yellow Sun), James Corden (‘Gavin & Stacey’) and Edward Hogg (The Comedian) will all co-star.

John Niven wrote the script, based on his cult novel of the same name. Here’s the synopsis: ‘London, 1997; the British music industry is on a winning streak. Britpop bands Blur, Oasis, The Verve rule the airwaves and Cool Britannia is in full swing. 27 year old A&R man Steven Stelfox (Hoult) is slashing and burning his way through the music business, a world where ‘no one knows anything’ and where careers are made and broken by chance and the fickle tastes of the general public. Fuelled by greed, ambition and inhuman quantities of drugs, Stelfox lives the dream, as he searches for his next hit record. But as the hits dry up and the industry begins to change, Stelfox takes the concept of “killer tunes” to a murderous new level in a desperate attempt to salvage his career.’

Owen Harris is directing, with shooting taking place in London for the next five weeks.

Jamie Foxx & Kevin Hart Up For Black Phantom, With Tim Story Directing

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jamie-foxxWith a title like Black Phantom, you might expect Jamie Foxx and Kevin Hart are trying to rebalance the largely white world of superhero movies – especially with Fantastic Four helmer Tim Story attached to helm – but it’s actually a comedy thriller, according to Variety.

The film follows a double-crossed mob hitman who enlists the help of the Black Phantom, the same African-American hitman who had been sent to kill him.’ It’s not clear which of those character Foxx and and Hart will play.

The film will reunite Hart and Story, who are just coming off the success of Ride Along. It’s not clear when it will shoot.

Jason Sudeikis To Bring Fletch To A New Generation

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jason-sudeikisFletch is a bit of an odd one. Most people have never heard of the character, and neither 1985’s Fletch or 1989’s Fletch Lives (both of which starred Chevy Chase) was actually that big a hit – but if you were exactly the right age (and male) at the time they came out, these films are likely to have a very special place in your heart.

Now those people are old enough to have some clout in Hollywood and as a result there’s been talk for several years of a big screen reboot. Now the film may have found its star, as THR reports that Jason Sudeikis is in negotiations for the lead role in the film, which is currently called Fletch Won.

The hope is that is will be the start of a comedy franchise, based around the character who first appeared in Gregory McDonald’s mystery novels. If it follows the plot of the first book it will see reporter I.M. Fletcher at the very beginning of his career. While investigating the beach drug culture for a story, a millionaire businessman approaches Fletch and contracts him to murder him. The man tells the reporter that he is dying of bone cancer and wants to avoid a slow, painful death.

Fletch accepts $1000 to entertain the idea, with the promise of $20,000 if he agrees to do it. The reporter then starts to look into the man’s story, as well as investigating the drug story assignment he’s supposed to be working on, and avoiding two attorneys who are after him for alimony for his ex-wives.

The film is being described as a gritty action comedy. David List is writing the reboot, although no director is currently attached.

Ed Helms Is Gonna Have An Epic Fail For A Navy SEALS Comedy

March 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ed-helmsEd Helms is spreading his wings as he’s not just attached to star in the comedy Epic Fail, but he’ll also produce it, based on an original idea he developed with Nicky Weinstock, according to TheWrap.

The movie is about an incredibly unorthodox unit of Navy SEALS who enlist the help of a badass soldier, known as The Walrus, when they are on a desperate mission to save the United States. It’s not clear exactly who Ed Helms will play.

Mike Arnold and Chris Poole have been hired to write the screenplay, with Lionsgate set to back the movie. It’s not known when it might shoot.

New Devil’s Knot Trailer – Fresh look at Colin Firth & Reese Witherspoon in the West Memphis 3 film

March 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Many expected The Devil’s Knot to be going for an Oscar run at the end of 2013, but it doesn’t arrive in US cinemas until May (no UK release date is currently set). The film is about the West Memphis 3, who were convicted of the murder of three young boys in Arkansas in the mid 90s. Even before they were convicted there were accusations of the investigation being bungled and the men being railroaded.

The youths were accused of murdering the boys in a Satanic ritual, with many suspecting they had just been caught up in a panic over Satanism that was sweeping the US (and other parts of the world) at the time, with the evidence made to fit what the prosecutors wanted it to, rather than what it did.
After years of campaigning, high-profile documentaries (particularly Paradise Lost and its sequel, which had a huge impact on the case), the three men were finally released – although it should be noted that it was part of a plea deal and they weren’t exonerated.

Colin Firth stars alongside the likes of Reese Witherspoon, Stephen Moyer, Dane DeHaan, Elia Koteas, Amy Ryan and Mireille Enos also star. Take a look at the new trailer. [Read more…]

Macbeth Inspired Enemy Of Man, Starring James D’Arcy & Rupert Grint, Releases A Concept Trailer

March 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

enemy-of-man-sean-beanKickstarter is becoming an increasingly popular way to raise funds for movies, but it’s still comparatively rare for films with well-known names to head to Kickstarter to make money. However Enemy Of Man –  which has Sean Bean, Charles Dance, Rupert Grint, Jason Flemyng, James D’Arcy and Neil Maskell attached to star –  is doing just that.

Actor Vincent Regan is set to write and direct the movie, which is inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth. In the film, ‘As civil war comes to an end, the Scottish King Duncan’s generals, Macbeth and Banquo, meet three mysterious Sisters who prophesy that Macbeth will, one day, become King of Scotland. His ambition whetted, Macbeth is no longer satisfied to remain loyal to his sovereign; the seeds of deadly conspiracy are sown. Fate plays its part as the King decides to pay a visit to Macbeth’s castle, in tribute to his general’s wartime valour. Macbeth takes his wife, Lady Macbeth, into his confidence regarding the Sisters’ prophecy; together they hatch a plot to kill Duncan and implicate his servants in the murder. Events soon unravel and Macbeth and Lady Macbeth sink deeper into the morass of lies, conspiracy, murder and guilt that accompanies their illicit rise to power and, inevitably, their fall into darkness.’

As well as launching a Kickstarter campaign, a concept trailer has been released, which you can take a look at below.
