The Bling Ring Teaser – Emma Watson stars in Sofia Coppola’s film

March 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Bling Ring sounds like it could be an interesting one, although this first teaser emphasises the young things partying rather than telling us about the plot. Emma Watson, Leslie Mann and Paris Hilton (as herself) all star, while Kirsten Dunst and Gavin Rossdale have cameos. There’s also a bunch of newcomers, including Georgia Rock, Israel Broussard, Emma Watson, Katie Chang, and Claire Pfister.

The drama is based on the true story of six teenagers, known as The Bling Ring, who broke into the homes of Hollywood celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and The Hills’ Audrina Patridge, making off with over $3 million in stolen goods from October 2008 to August 2009.

No firm release date is set yet, but it should be out later this year. [Read more…]

Jason Bateman, Charlie Day & Jason Sudeikis On For Horrible Bosses 2

March 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

horrible-bosses-movie-posterHorrible Bosses was a pretty decent sized hit, grossing $200 million around the world on a $35 million budget. Ever since it was released, there’s been talk of a sequel, but it’s only now that it’s really coming together, with the news, via THR, that Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis have finalised deals to return for Horrible Bosses 2. Jamie Foxx is also in talks to reprise his role, although he’s yet to sign on the dotted line.

The original movie followed Nick Hendricks (Jason Bateman), Dale Arbus (Charlie Day), and Kurt Buckman (Jason Sudeikis), three friends who are sick and tired of their dreadful bosses. Unable to take anymore, they hatch a plan to get rid of their employers once and for all.

Apparently the sequel will feature a brand new set of bosses, but there is reportedly room for Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Aniston to return (if you’ve seen the first movie, you’ll know Colin Farrell is unlikely to return).

John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein are writing the script, with Seth Gordon returning to direct. The shoot should take place sometime this summer.

Christopher Nolan Confirmed For Interstellar, With A November 2014 Release Announced

March 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Christopher-NolanEver since The Dark Knight Rises, we’ve been waiting to hear what Christopher Nolan would direct next. A few months ago it was revealed he was working on Interstellar, although at that point it wasn’t clear if it would be his next project, or indeed if he’d move on to another film.

Now he’s commited to the movie, with Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures jointly announcing that Nolan will indeed make Interstellar, which will be co-produced and distributed by the two studios. They’re also set a release date, with the movie hitting cinemas on November 7th, 2014.

Nolan will direct and has been rewriting the script, based on his brother Jonathan’s original screenplay. And as this is Nolan, not much has been revealed about the movie, other than that ‘The film will depict a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding.’ It’s previously been revealed (back when Spielberg was interested in Jonathan’s script, that it was spawned from the ideas of theoretical physicist, gravitational physicist and astrophysicist Kip Thorne, with the story involving time travel, alternate dimensions and travelling through wormholes.

Finnick, Gale & Peeta Smoulder In Hunger Games: Catching Fire Fashion Posters

March 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

catching-fire-finnick-portrait
Over the last few days, Lionsgate has been releasing a slew of Capitol Fashion Portraits of various characters, ranging from Katniss to newcomers like Johanna Mason (Jena Malone). Now it’s the turn of the main men, with pics for Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), and newbie Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin).

Finnick is a former champion, known for being cocky, arrogant and a favourite of the ladies of the Capitol. While Katniss initially takes a disliking to him, she come to realise there’s more under the surface than his public image suggests.

One thing we’ve been wondering is why Gale got a portrait? After all, while all the other pics are either Capitol residents or former champions, Gale’s never been out of District 12 (well, he’s been into the woods nearby, but that doesn’t really count.

The film is out November 22nd.

Much Ado About Nothing Trailer – Joss Whedon takes Shakespeare black and white

March 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Most people who were busy putting together such a massive movie as The Avengers would have enough on their plate, but Joss Whedon isn’t most people, as while he was still putting the finishing touches on his superhero movies, he was also shooting a micro-budget film version of Much Ado About Nothing.

That film is now on its way to cinemas, with a UK poster and release date of June 14th announced (it’ll hit the US on June 21st), as well as the first trailer debuting.

The black and white takes a contemporary take on Shakespeare’s comedy (although still with the original text), and stars many actors who’ve worked with Whedon before on his various TV shows, such as Amy Acker (Angel), Alexis Denisof (Buffy & Angel), Clark Gregg (Avengers) & Nathan Fillion (Firefly).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Leonato (Clark Gregg – THE AVENGERS; IRON MAN), the governor of Messina, is visited by his friend Don Pedro (Reed Diamond – MONEYBALL; GOOD NIGHT & GOOD LUCK), who is returning from a victorious campaign against his rebellious brother Don John (Sean Maher – SERENITY; TV’s FIREFLY). Accompanying Don Pedro are two of his officers: Benedick (Alexis Denisof – THE AVENGERS; TV’s ANGEL) and Claudio (Fran Kranz – DIARY OF A WIMPY KID; TV’s DOLLHOUSE). While in Messina, Claudio falls for Leonato’s daughter Hero (newcomer Jillian Morgese), and Benedick verbally spars with Beatrice (Amy Acker – THE CABIN IN THE WOODS; TV’s ANGEL; DOLLHOUSE), the governor’s niece. The budding love between Claudio and Hero prompts Don Pedro to arrange, with Leonato, their marriage.

‘In the days leading up to the ceremony, Don Pedro, with the help of Leonato, Claudio and Hero, attempts to sport with Benedick and Beatrice in an effort to trick the two into falling in love. Meanwhile, the villainous Don John, with the help of his allies Conrade (Riki Lindhome – MILLION DOLLAR BABY) and Borachio (Spencer Treat Clark – MYSTIC RIVER), plots against the happy couple, using his own form of trickery to try to destroy the marriage before it begins. A series of comic and tragic events may continue to keep the two couples from truly finding happiness, but then again perhaps love may prevail.’ [Read more…]

The Hangover Part III Teaser – The Wolfpack returns to Las Vegas

March 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The final part of The Hangover trilogy hits cinemas on May 24th, and now we get to take our first look at the movie with a teaser trailer. Although things start out surprisingly dour, with the boys at a funeral, things soon go far more manic, with the Wolfpack back in Las Vegas and causing plenty more mayhem.

That said, there’s not too much info on the actual plot, although we’ve been promised that while there’s no batchelor party or wedding this time around, getting the boys back to Vegas ensures carnage aplenty.

Todd Phillips once more directs, with Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong, Heather Graham and John Goodman starring.

After Earth Trailer – M. Night Shyamalan’s sci-fi is looking good

March 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The second that Avatar hit it big, everyone in Hollywood was on the lookout for new sci-fi projects. However it always takes a long time to get a huge, effects filled movie into cinemas, so it’s only now that we’re seeing the wave of new sci-fi Avatar inspired, with the likes of Oblivion and M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth. The latter looks like it’s going to be pretty good – at least if this trailer is anything to go by.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.’

The film’s due in cinemas June 7th.

Jane Fonda In Talks For This Is Where I Leave You

March 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jane-fondaSince the late 80s, Jane Fonda has only made sporadic on-screen appearances, but she’s now planing a relatively rare movie appearance, as Deadline reports that she’s in talks to join Jason Bateman,Tina Fey and Corey Stoll in This Is Where I Leave You.

The film is an adaptation of the Jonathan Tropper comic novel about four siblings who come home to sit ‘shiva’ for their deceased father. They are trapped in the house for seven days, and all their skeletons are laid bare. Fonda is in talks to play Fey, Stoll and Bateman’s mother, the recently widowed Hillary Foxman.

Sofia Vergara Joins Jason Statham in Heat, And Gets A Boob Gun Machete Kills Poster

March 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

machete-kills-vergara-posterSofia Vergara is already the best paid of the Modern Family cast (although all the main actors get the same for the series, she earns a lot more in endorsement deals etc.), and now she’s making a bid for cinema stardom. As the pic above shows, she’ll soon be seen in Machete Kills, and it appears she’ll arrive with all boobs blazing.

However it’s not the only Vergara news we’ve got today, as THR reports that Sofia Vergara is in negotiations to play the female lead in a remake of the 1987 Burt Reynolds action thriller Heat. Jason Statham is already attached to star as a gambling addict who takes a series of protection and security jobs in Las Vegas to support his addiction. When his friend is badly beaten by the mafia, he puts everything aside to take on the mob by himself.

It’s not known exactly who Sofia Vergara’s role. Simon West (The Expendables 2) is directing from a screenplay by William Goldman, who wrote the novel the original movie is based on both the 1980s and new screenplay adaptation. There’s no news on when it might shoot.
