New Evil Dead Remake Trailer – Things are getting very gory

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When it was announced several years ago that they were planning on remaking The Evil Dead, the presumption was that it would be a toned down, PG-13 rated cash-in. However everything we’ve seen of the movie so far has been keen to suggest that blood, guts and gore are very much part of the film. Indeed this latest trailer is impressively grisly!

In the movie five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

The movie hits UK cinemas April 13th, 2013.

New A Good Day To Die Hard Trailer – Bruce Willis gets explosive in Russia

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Presumably there’s not enough of the US left that John McLane hasn’t had a hand in destroying, and so this time he’s going international, heading to Russia to team up with his son (Jai Courtney) for a new, and as this trailer show, suitably explosive adventure.

What John doesn’t know when he first gets to Russia is that his wayward son, Jack, is actually a highly trained CIA operative out to stop a nuclear weapons heist. Jack likes likes his modern, tech based techniques while John is old-school – and the combination may be the only way to stop the bad guys.

The film’s due out February 14th, 2013, so it’ll be a Valentine’s movie for the guys.

John Krasinski, Michael Rosenbaum & More Up For Guardians Of The Galaxy

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

isaiah-mustafaOver the past few weeks, various names have come up in connection with the role of Star Lord (aka Peter Quill) in Guardians Of The Galaxy. Now a couple more actors are said to be in contention with Michael Rosenbaum and John Krasinki up for the part, joining Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zachary Levi and Jim Sturgess on the frontrunners list.

Now it appears they’re also looking for another member of the Guardians team, as Comic Book Movie reports that Isaiah Mustafa (best known for his Old Spice ads), Dave Bautista (a WWE wrestler), and Brian Patrick Wade (Generation Kill) are contenders to play the evil Drax The Destroyer.

In the comic books, Drax began life as a normal human called Arthur Douglas, whose entire family is killed by Thanos. Super-being Kronos then tranfers Arthur’s soul into a new body so he can take on Thanos. That arc is likely to be slightly changed for the film.

Comic Book Movie is also behind the news about John Krasinki. Marvel is said to be looking at him for Peter Gunn, although it’s not clear if he’s actually going to test for the role. Smallville actor Michael Rosenbaum himself tweeted that he’s up for the movie, saying ‘Read for my pal @jamesgunn GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY for PETER QUILL. What a treat! Thanks Jimmy. @marvel’.

Peter Quill is a NASA astronaut who learns that his true father is actually an alien, which leads him on a journey into outer space. With a sentient space ship, he becomes the Star-Lord, an intergalactic cop who serves as the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

James Gunn is directing from his own screenplay, a release date of August 1st, 2014 is already set.

New Oz The Great And Powerful Pics Arrive

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

oz-great-powerful-pic9
Sam Raimi’s Oz The Great And Powerful hits cinemas on March 8th, and just in case we didn’t think this new take on the L. Frank Baum tales was bright and colourful enough, some new pictures have shown up online of James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and co.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.’

New Last Stand Posters Hit – Arnie is back in action with Johnny Knoxville

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

last-stand-poster2 Arnie’s return to lead action roles is only a few weeks away, with The Last Stand due to hit UK cinemas on January 25th. Now a couple of new posters for the movie have shown up, which you can see above and below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy. With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow.’

Ashley Tisdale Will Get Left Behind With Nic Cage and Chad Michael Murray

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ashley-tisdale-1The early 2000s adaptations of Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye’s novel series Left Behind could only muster religious zealot (and former Growing Pains star) Kirk Cameron as its lead, but a planned new version already has Nic Cage and Chad Michael Murray, and now Deadline reports that High School Musical’s Ashley Tisdale is in talks to join them.

The story follows a group trying to survive in the aftermath of the Rapture, which has seen all the true Christians being spirited up to heaven, leaving everyone else behind to deal with the end of days. Cage is set to play Ray Steele, a neglectful dad and pilot who finds God too late and so forms the Tribulation Force to cope with the coming carnage. Tisdale will play his daughter Chloe, who has also been left behind and is a founding member of the Force.

Paul Lalonde, who wrote the original Left Behind in 2001, and John Patus, who wrote the last installment of the earlier film series, Left Behind: World at War, are writing the screenplay. There’s no news on whether the overly pious tone of the earlier movies will be changed for this slightly bigger budget remake.

First Snowpiercer Art Online – Get a feel for Joon-ho Bong’s Chris Evans starring film

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

snowpiercer-concept-art1
Joon-ho Bong made a big splash with his South Korean movies The Host and Mother, and now he’s going English-language with Snowpiercer. The first art from the movie has now shown up via TheFilmStage, suggesting a dystopian sci-fi look to the film.

Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, John Hurt, Kang-ho Song, and Ewen Bremner star in the movie, which is set in a world covered in snow and ice, with a group of characters stranded on a train dubbed the Snowpiercer, who all struggle to co-exist. Ewen Bremner will play a father who helps Chris Evans’ character find his kidnapped son.

Joon-ho Bong is directing from a script he co-wrote with Kelly Masterson (Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead), adapted from Benjamin Legrand and Jacuqes Lob’s graphic novel. Chan-wook Park produces. Take a look at the art above and below, and you can also listen to a sample of Marco Beltrami’s score.

Vehicle 19 Trailers – Paul Walker gets caught up in a criminal conspiracy

January 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Paul Walker hasn’t generally had a lot of luck outside the Fast & Furious franchise. Despite occasional high spots such as Road Kill (Joyride) and Varsity Blues, most of time people aren’t that interested unless he’s behind the wheel of a fast-paced car.

He’ll be hoping for more from the thriller Vehicle 19, where Walker plays an ex-con who is given the wrong rental car after being released from prison. He discovers a critical piece of evidence in a case against several corrupt cops, as he races against the clock to get the damning material in the right hands.

Now two trailers have been released, one US one and one Japanese, giving us out first look at the film. No UK release date has yet been set.

First Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Art Hits, Featuring Crystal McCahill

January 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sin-city-2-first-artwork
When Sin City was first released in 2005, Robert Rodriguez said he had plans for two sequels in 2006 and 2007. It’s taken him a lot longer than that to get a follow-up going, but now Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is on its way, with an October release already set.

The likes of Jessica Alba, Alexa Vega, Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King are all set to return for the sequel, while one of the newcomers is Crystal McCahill, who’s posted a few shots from the set, including what appears to be out first look at artwork from the film (it’s tough to tell if she’s meant to have released the shots, but they’re here now).

There’s no specific info on her character, but the pic makes it look like the former Playboy Playmate is one of the women on Old Town – nearly all of whom are either prostitutes or strippers. Some have suggested she could be Ava, the Dame To Kill For of the title, although that seems unlikely as she has no acting experience – but then the fact she has a poster-style image would suggest she’s a fairly important character. All should be revealed soon.

Has The Justice League Superhero Lineup Been Revealed?

January 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

justice-leagueLast month rumours emerged that the villain in Justice League would be Darkseid, and now a new report via Comic Book News has what they say is the full line-up of supheroes for the movie. While we knew Batman and Superman would be included, the report includes various others who should be part of the movie.

Perhaps most intriguingly is that if the report is correct, it’s our clearest suggestion yet that DC wants Henry Cavill in the Superman role and may also try to get Ryan Reynolds back as Green Lantern.

Here’s what CBN says:
• Superman is essentially the same character from Man of Steel, and Zack Snyder is consulting regarding the writing of the character.

• Batman: The strategist of the group. Batman doesn’t really want to be involved with these super powered beings he considers too powerful. Easily the most complex written.

• Wonder Woman: She has only been in man’s world a few short months. The Wonder Woman script Michael Goldenberg is developing will be set before the Justice League movie.

• Green Lantern: Will be Ryan Reynold’s character from the Green Lantern movie, but will be freshly written with a more serious tone.

• Flash: The most popular hero in civilian eyes who loves media attention, but when called upon is very serious.

• Martian Manhunter: Alien who has lived on Earth in secret for over a hundred years who has knowledge of Darkseid and his reign.

• Aquaman: Will be the King of Atlantis who has a key role in the film.• There will also be a heavy military presence in the film which in future rewrites could include characters featured in Man of Steel or even Amanda Waller (Angela Bassett) of which neither are included in the first draft.

• Alfred Pennyworth is in the film in a minor appearance.

• Lois Lane is also in the film in a cameo.

• Darkseid’s Elite will be featured who go up against the Justice League early on in the film.

Will Beall (Gangster Squad) is writing the film, which is currently being planned for a 2015 release (the same year as Avengers 2).
