First Look At Clint Eastwood In Trouble With The Curve

July 27, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When he made Gran Torino, Clint Eastwood suggested that would be his last on-screen role, but now he’s coming back with Trouble With The Curve, which is longtime producer Robert Lorenz is directing. The first images from the film have now been released via EW, which feature Eastwood alongside Amy Adam and Justine Timberlake.

Clint Eastwood stars as a veteran baseball scout, who attempts to bond with his daughter (Adams) by taking her on his last recruiting trip. Director Robert Lorenz had to say about the character, “He gets his chance to prove whether he still has value as a scout and as a dad. They’re having trouble communicating. They always have, and now they’ve come to a point in the relationship where it’s either going to change or it’s not. He needs a little help, and she decides it’s worth the effort.”

About Last Night Remake Wants Michael Ealy and Regina Hall

July 27, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Screen Gems’ planned remake of About Last Night is quickly turning into a bit of a Think Like a Man reunion, with Michael Ealy and Regina Hall circling roles in the production, according to Variety. Last month Kevin Hart was also attached to star.

The original About Last Night, released in 1986, starred Rob Lowe and Demi Moore as a young Chicago couple who start a romance, even though their friends are not happy with the arrangement. Although official offers have not been issued yet, Michael Ealy is said to be taking the male lead originated by Rob Lowe. No details were given for Regina Hall’s character. Kevin Hart will play Bernie Litgo, originally portrayed by James Belushi.

Leslye Headland wrote the screenplay, with Will Gluck (Easy A) and William Packer (Think Like a Man) attached to produce. The studio is still seeking a director.

Kimberley Peirce Remaking With a Friend Like Harry

July 27, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There have been big gaps in Kimberley Peirce CV, with her first film, Boys Don’t Cry coming in 1999, then nothing until Stop Loss in 2008 and we’ll getting her latest movie, a remake of Carrie, next year. She’s hoping there won’t be as big a gap until her follow-up, as she’s already signed up for a remake of the French thriller With a Friend Like Harry.

The original starred Laurent Lucas and Mathilde Seigner as Michel and Claire. The couple goes on vacation with their children and unintentionally meet up with Harry, an old classmate Michel doesn’t remember.

The plot thickens when Harry’s behaviour takes a turn for the worse. Dominik Moll directed the original film, which was nominated for the prestigious Palm D’Or at the Cannes Film Festival back in 2000. (Source: Variety)

Ridley Scott Remaking The Day Britain Stopped

July 27, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ridley Scott and Steven Zaillian are teaming up to produce a do-over of the 2003 BBC pseudo-documentary The Day Britain Stopped, with 20th Century Fox set to back the movie, according to THR.

The 2003 mock-doc was about a disaster that leads to a complete breakdown of England’s transportation system. Insiders stress that this new version will not be a remake, but will be inspired by the original, although whether that means the disaster will be very different or if they’re dropping the documentary approach isn’t clear.

Ridley Scott and Steven Zaillian will produce through their Scott Free and Film Rites production companies, with Garrett Basch executive producing. They are currently seeking a screenwriter to tackle the script. Gabriel Range wrote and directed the original version. Scott and Zaillian last teamed up for the 2007 crime drama American Gangster, which Ridley Scott directed from Steven Zaillian’s screenplay.

Cloud Atlas Extended Trailer – Will the ambitious multi-story epic work?

July 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We just posted some of the first images from the Wachowskis’ and Tom Twyker’s ambitious Cloud Atlas, and now Den Of Geek has tipped us off to an extended trailer for the fascinating looking movie, which you can watch right here. The movie, based on David Mitchell’s novel spans hundreds of years, showing how individual lives affect others in the past, present, and future through a series of stories. The actors, including Hugh Grant, Halle Berry, Ben Whishaw, Jim Broadbent and Tom Hanks play different people in each story, jumping between different races and genders. Doug Liman Takes On Time & Again

July 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Lionsgate has picked up rights to Jack Finney’s illustrated novel Time and Again with Doug Liman set to helm and produce. Many people have tried to bring the book to the screen since it was published in 1970, but it’s always stayed trapped in development hell. Liman is now hoping he can pull it out, according to Variety.

The novel follows Manhattan illustrator Simon Morley, who takes part in a secret government experiment in the mid 20th century. The experiment transports him back to 1882 New York, where he falls in love and struggles with the decision to either go back to his original time or stay in the past with his lover. The author also wrote the fantasy novel The Body Snatchers and a sequel to Time and Again, called From Time to Time.

The movie won’t shoot anytime soon, as Liman is set to make All You Need Is Kill first, which stars Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
