First Clip Of Shia LaBoeuf In Nymphomaniac – Getting NSFW for Lars Von Trier’s film

July 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Nymphomaniac is definitely intriguing, with Lars Von Trier promising it will feature real sex, although due to it having a high profile cast, some of the shagging may involve body doubles and special effects. A few weeks ago we had the first clip from the movie, which unsurprisingly wasn’t exactly hardcore. Now another comes, which give us our first look at Shia LaBeouf in the movie. The clip is safe for work, but as you can see, the new pic above isn’t.

The likes of Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, Uma Thurman, Connie Neilsen and Stacy Martin also star.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The film is a wild and poetic story of a woman’s erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Gainsbourg). On a cold winter’s evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Skarsgard), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi-faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.’

No release date is currently set, but expect it later this year. [Read more…]

Cold Comes The Night Trailer – Bryan Cranston stars in Tze Chun’s film

July 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sony Pictures has picked up worldwide distribution rights to Tze Chun’s Cold Comes The Night, and with that news comes a trailer for the film, which stars Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness), Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), and Logan Marshall-Green (Prometheus).

The film tells the story of a struggling motel owner (Eve) who, along with her daughter (Parker), is taken hostage by a career criminal (Cranston) as he attempts to retrieve his cash package from a crooked cop (Marshall-Green).  Everyone gets in over their heads, and a series of double-crosses leaves a string of dead bodies in this pulse-pounding story about desperation and survival.

The movie is due out in the UK in September.

New Romeo And Juliet Trailer – Hailee Steinfeld & Douglas Booth are star-crossed lovers

July 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Romeo And Juliet is one of the most popular tales to adapt in the history of cinema. From the silent era onwards we’ve had a string of films based on Shakespeare’s play, the latest of which will hit cinemas this autumn, with Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth as the star-crossed lovers.

Damian Lewis, Paul Giamatti, Ed Westwick, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Stellan Skarsgard also stars. The film was shot quite a while, but it’s only now it’s preparing for release.

A new trailer and poster have now been released, which lays the period renaissance detail and Shakespearean language on thick. It’s certainly going to be pretty, but it remains to be seen whether, after the likes of Franco Zeferelli and Baz Luhrmann’s versions, we really need another Romeo And Juliet. [Read more…]

First Pics From Diablo Cody’s Paradise, Featuring Julianne Hough & Russell Brand

July 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Paradise-Diablo-Cody1
Diablo Cody made a big splash with her Oscar winning screenplay for Juno, however she hasn’t really been able to capitalise on that with the likes of Jennifer’s Body and Young Adult. Now she’s turning director for Paradise, and the first images have emerged via USA Today.

Previously titled Lamb Of God, the comedy is about a young conservative religious woman (Julianne hough) who loses her faith after a plane crash. She decides to go to Las Vegas to live the life of a sinner and on her journey finds her way back to her faith. Cody comments that, “She is so naive that some of the shocking things she does we all would do on a Friday night.”

Russell Brand plays William, a bartender who befriends the young woman after she arrives in Vegas. The great cast also includes Octavia Spencer, Nick Offerman, and Holly Hunter.

Diablo says, “If you have ever been through something incredibly difficult such as [Lamb’s injury], you know it’s hard to stay positive and not surrender to cynicism completely,” she said. “I wanted to make a non-cynical movie that would inspire positivity.”

An October US release date is already set, but there’s no UK release currently set.

After 2010’s Green Zone, director Paul Greengrass signed up and left a ridiculous amount of movies, before settling on Captain Phillips. He’s teamed up with Tom Hanks for the movie, which will hit cinemas in October.

The project is based on the true story of Maresk Alabama captain Richard Phillips (Hanks), who sacrificed himself to be taken hostage by Somali pirates, so he could save the lives of his crew. He spent three days in captivity before being rescued by a Navy SEAL team in 2009.

Two new posters have now emerged, which you can see above and below.

Ben Foster Set To Play Lance Armstrong For Director Stephen Frears

July 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ben-fosterAs soon as Lance Armstrong admitted he’d cheated during his cycling career, a couple of biopics about him were announced. We haven’t heard about them for a while, but now Stephen Frears has stepped up with yet another movie about Armstrong, with Deadline reporting that Ben Foster is in final negotiations to play Lance.

John Hodge (Trance, Trainspotting) wrote the screenplay, which covers the cyclist’s career from his testicular cancer comeback to winning seven Tour De France championships, through to his eventual admission that he used performance enhancing drugs during his record-breaking run.

Unsurprisingly, with other Armstrong projects in the works, they’re fast-tracking the project and hope to start shooting as early as this autumn, in the hope of getting a jump on the movie movies.

Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions are working on movie based on the book, Cycle of Lies: The Fall of Lance Armstrong by New York Times sports journalist Juliet Macur. Warner Bros. is also developing a Lance Armstrong biopic, securing the life rights of Tyler Hamilton, one of Lance Armstrong’s teammates on the United States Postal Service cycling team, and one of the first to testify under oath that his teammate was doping. Jay Roach is attached to direct that movie from a script by Scott Z. Burns.

The Butterfly Effect Is Getting Rebooted With The Original Writer Returning

July 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

butterfly-effect-poster1The Butterfly Effect is the sort of film it’s almost surprising we haven’t had hundreds of straight-to-DVD sequels to, as it’s a premise that’s easily repeatable. There were a couple of follow-ups but few people saw them. It’s only know that they’re really trying to make something of it, with FilmEngine and BenderSpink revealing that they’re planning to reboot the 2004 film.

Eric Bress, who co-wrote and co-directed the original with J. Mackye Gruber, has signed on to write the do-over, although no director is attached at this time.

Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart starred in the original, which was about a man who finds himself moving between his past and his present. Using his knowledge of the future, he starts to change events from his past that will alter his present life, although he discovers there are grave consequences for such actions. The film grossed $96 million worldwide from a $13 million budget.

Vin Diesel Will Be The World’s Most Wanted In A New Thriller

July 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

riddick-vin-diesel-shirtlessIt seems Vin Diesel likes being chased by the authorities, as after the likes of Riddick and Fast & Furious, he’s signed up to star in and produce the thriller World’s Most Wanted according to Deadline.

Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans) has just signed up to rewrite the original script by Sean O’Keefe and Will Staples, which is about n a team of specialists that are assigned to take down an international criminal. Matthew Vaughn Casts Newcomer Taron Egerton In Secret Service

July 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matthew-vaughn4Matthew Vaughn has been working on an adaptation of Mark Millar’s Secret Service for years. When he stepped away from helming X-Men: Days Of Future Past earlier this year, he said it was partly so he could concentrate on the movie. He’s already cast Colin Firth in one of the lead roles, and now he’s added newcomer Taron Egerton, according to Variety.

Firth is set to play Uncle Jack, an MI6 spy, with Egerton as his nephew, Gary. Jack takes the youngster under his wing to teach him the ropes, in hopes the dodgy youngster will change his ways and become an MI6 agent.

No deal has been done yet, but negotiations are expected to start shortly. Others considered for the role include Vaughn’s Kick-Ass star, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, although the director eventually decided to go with something less well known. He also met the likes of Jack O’Connell and Attack the Block star John Boyega.

Interestingly Egerton is so new to the business he doesn’t have an agent (hence why we don’t have a pic of him), so Vaughn really is plucking him from obscurity. He did appear in an episode of Lewis though.

Vaughn is now looking to cast the female lead and the villain. Emma Watson and Dark Shadows’ Bella Heathcote are apparently high on the list for the former, with Vaughn hoping to cast a high-profile star like Tom Cruise or Leonardo DiCaprio for the latter (although both those actors have already turned down the part).

The hope is to shoot later this year for release next year.
