New Jupiter Ascending Trailer – The Wachowskis get epic with Channing Tatum & Mila Kunis

March 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A new trailer for Andy and Lana Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending has arrived, which certainly makes the movie look pretty epic. However the jury is slightly out, as historically this sort of film, which takes sci-fi to the edge of fantasy, has always looked great beforehand but underwhelmed on release (e.g. The Chronicles Of Riddick or Dune).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis star in “Jupiter Ascending,” an original science fiction epic adventure from filmmakers Lana and Andy Wachowski (The Matrix).

‘Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.’

We’re definitely hoping the actual movie is as cool as it appears when it’s released in July. [Read more…]

Oy Vey My Son Is Gay Trailer – A Jewish family find out their son is gay, and dating a gentile!

March 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Now we can take a look at the trailer for the upcoming gay-themed rom-com.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘A Long Island couple struggles to come to terms with the fact that their son is gay after he comes out of the closet at his cousin’s wedding. When every attempt to understand their son’s lifestyle ends in failure, Nelson’s (Lloyd-Young) parents decide to have dinner with the boyfriend’s parents, and discover the power of compassion. Trying their best to keep Nelson’s sexuality a well-guarded secret, Shirley (Kazan) and Martin (Rubinek) realize that all bets are off when their son and his partner attempt to adopt a child, blowing the lid off the closet door!’

First Close-up Look At Dane DeHaan As Green Goblin In Amazing Spider-man 2

March 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

amazing-spider-man-2-green-goblin-close-upIf you want to be pretty, it would seem that becoming the Green Goblin isn’t the way to go it. Sony has released the ultimate no makeup selfie (but actually a lot of makeup) for The Amazing Spider-man 2, giving us our first up close look at Dane DeHaan after his transformation into the famed villain.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

‘It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.’

The movie is due in UK cinemas this April, with a May 2nd US release set

Fifty Shades’ Luke Grimes Up For American Sniper

March 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Luke-GrimesLuke Grimes has recently been getting busy on the set of Fifty Shades of Grey, but that won’t be his only big movie of 2015, as he is in final talks to join American Sniper, which already has the likes of Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller and Jake McDorman attached to star.

The action movie is based on the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Cooper), a Texas native who racked up the most confirmed sniper kills of anyone in US military history.

However before he took the record, he was a rodeo cowboy. Tragically though, he was killed by a fellow veteran at a shooting range in February 2013 (it’s not clear if that will be included in the movie).

Grimes will play fellow SEAL team member Marc Lee.

Clint Eastwood is directing from a screenplay by Jason Dean Hall (Paranoia, Spread),.

Mila Kunis & Pointy-Eared Channing Tatum Jupiter Ascending Character Posters Land

March 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jupiter-Ascending-character-poster1The trailers for Jupiter Ascending may look cool but a little confusing, but these character posters certainly suggest Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis are gonna be looking incredibly good in the Wachowskis’ movie – even if Tatum is all pointy-eared.

You can see the posters above and below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis star in “Jupiter Ascending,” an original science fiction epic adventure from filmmakers Lana and Andy Wachowski.

‘Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

‘From the streets of Chicago to far flung galaxies whirling through space, “Jupiter Ascending” is written and directed by the Wachowskis. Award-winning producer Grant Hill, with whom they have collaborated since “The Matrix” Trilogy, is producing, together with Lana Wachowski and Andy Wachowski. Roberto Malerba and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.’

It’s due out in July.

John Boyega May Have A Choice Between Terminator: Genesis & Star Wars

March 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

John-BoyegaJohn Boyega is having quite a year. The Attack The Block star is rumoured to be in contention for a major role in the new Star Wars movie, and now there’s talk that he’s being looked at for Terminator: Genesis.

THR’s Boris Kit tweeted, ‘Tidbit: John Boyega (Attack the Block) tested for #StarWars but he is also wanted for #Terminator : Genesis. The role: son of Miles Dyson.’

‘Joe Morton played Dyson, exec at Cyberdyne. If u recall, Terminator pays a visit to Dyson’s house, son is there.’

‘He [Boyega] can’t do both. He has to wait out the Star Wars game.’

If he is offered both roles, it would be one hell of a choice for the young Brit. And he certain can’t do both, as Terminator: Genesis starts shooting next month, while Star Wars: Episode VII begins production this May.

In T2 Miles Dyson is the Cyberdyne engineer who is primarily responsible for the creation of Skynet. His young son Danny was featured in a scene where the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger), Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and John Connor (Edward Furlong) visi the Dyson home. The character was also played by Phil Morris in the Fox TV series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It’s not known how he might fit into Genesis.

Kevin Spacey Is Taking On Winston Churchill In Captain Of The Gate

March 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kevin-spaceyWhen you look at Kevin Spacey, nobody’s ever been particularly struck by how much he looks like Winston Churchill, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea that he’s going to play the UK’s World War II leader in Captain of the Gate.

THR reports that the film chronicles Churchill’s ‘rise to power as he stood against parliament to defend Britain and the world from Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich’. That isn’t actually that much of a description, as Churchill was a very busy man in the run up to and during the war, and it’s not clear if this will be an overview, or if it will look at a very specific period between the wars.

Many forget that Winston wasn’t Prime Minister when the war started, but due to his actions before the conflict broke out, he was asked to take over, becoming one of the most admired leaders of the 20th Century in the process. He was PM between 1940 and 1945, and again from 1951 to 1955.

Ben Kaplan (WWII in HD, Reagan) wrote the screenplay, although it doesn’t appear a director is attached as yet.

New Edge Of Tomorrow Trailer – Tom Cruise just can’t stop dying in the massive sci-fi film

March 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While it’s difficult not to think of Groundhog Day when you see the plot of Edge Of Tomorrow, with this new trailer, the Tom Cruise sci-fi is setting out its stall to be one of the biggest original movies of the year.

It certainly does a good job of selling the film’s massive action set-pieces, which look a little like a videogame – and when you see what the plot is about, that’s probably not an accident.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The epic action of ‘Edge of Tomorrrow’ unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.

‘Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.

‘But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.’

The film’s due out in May. [Read more…]

Hercules Trailer – Plus a poster for the all-action Dwayne Johnson flick

March 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Yesterday Dwayne Johnson’s Hercules got a couple of new images. Well it turns out they were just paving the way for a trailer and poster, which has now shown up online, and which you can see above and below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Paramount and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ film HERCULES, starring Dwayne Johnson, bows on July 25. Based on Radical Comics’ ‘Hercules,’ this ensemble-action film, featuring an international cast, is a revisionist take on the classic myth set in a grounded world where the supernatural does not exist. HERCULES also stars Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan and John Hurt.

It certainly looks better than this year’s other Hercules movie, starring Kellan Lutz, but it remains to be seen just how good it is, especially as it can’t quite seem to decide whether it wants to follow the myths or not.

The Brett Ratner directed movie will be out in cinemas this summer. [Read more…]

Let’s Be Cops Red Band Trailer – Damon Wayans Jr. & Jake Johnson impersonate the police

March 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Last time I looked, impersonating a police officer was a crime, but it’s also got a fair amount of potential for comedy.

That’s the premise behind Let’s Be Cops, starring Damon Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson, which has just released its first red band trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘It’s the ultimate buddy cop movie except for one thing: they’re not cops. When two struggling pals dress as police officers for a costume party, they become neighborhood sensations. But when these newly-minted “heroes” get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line.’

James D’Arcy, Andy Garcia, Rob Riggle and Nina Dobrev also star.

It’ll be in cinemas this summer.

Meryl Streep Will Turn Aging Rocker In Diabo Cody’s Ricky and the Flash

March 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Meryl-StreepLanding Meryl Streep for your movie is a bit of a badge of honour for a filmmaker, so Diablo Cody and Jonathan Demme must be feeling pretty good, as Variety reports that she’s signed up to star in their indie movie, Ricky and the Flash.

It could be an interesting one for the actress as she will play ‘an old fading rockstar… who after years of being estranged from her children, finally tries to reconnect as one of them goes through an ugly divorce.’

Juno and Young Adult’s writer Diablo Cody has come up with the script, with Silence Of The Lambs and Philadelphia’s Jonathan Demme. So far Streep is the first person to be cast, and will make a contrast to her other upcoming roles, including the young adult sci-fi/fantasy The Giver, playing a witch in Into The Woods and Emmeline Pankhurst in Suffragette.

It’s not clear when Ricky and the Flash will shoot.
