New Dark Knight Rises Poster Hits

December 11, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

The much vaunted prologue to The Dark Knight Rises will be playing in IMAX cinemas ahead of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, and to prepare for that, a new poster for the movie has been released. If the image is anything to go by, things aren’t going to go well for Batman in this installment, with Bane (Tom Hardy) posing a serious threat as the movie’s main big bad.

There’s definitely a note of finality about the film, with Christopher Nolan seemingly keen to put a full stop after his trilogy of movies, and that audiences should know this really will be a true conclusion. The film hits cinemas July 20th, but for now enjoy the rather cool poster.

BGPS’s Advent Calendar Of Buff Blokes: Day 11 – Ryan Carnes

December 11, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ryan Carnes

Ryan Carnes

There are three things you need to know about Ryan Carnes:
1. He made his film debut and got a lot of gay fans starring in Eating Out in 2004
2. He got his man bits out in the movie
3. SInce then he’s never been afraid to be sexy, whether in photoshoots or on screen

As well as eating out, Carnes starred in 100 episodes of US soap General Hospital, and has appeared in series as diverse as Desperate Housewives, CSI: Miami, The Closer, Bones, NCIS and even Doctor Who (perhaps Russell T. Davies in an Eating Out fan).

So celebrate the fact we’re nearly halfway through Advent with our gallery of insanely hot pics of Ryan. And by the way, the pics by Jeff Slater are courtesy of his website. [Read more…]

BGPS’s Advent Calendar Of Buff Blokes: Day 10 – David Moretti

December 10, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

David Moretti in The Lair

David Moretti in The Lair

Today’s Advent Calendar entry will be familiar to any fans of the supernatural gay horror TV series The Lair (assuming the silly but sex-filled show has fans, that’s it), where he played the main character of Thom Etherton. In The Lair he accidentally gets caught up with a band of nefarious gay vampires, whose leader believes that Thom is the reincarnation of his dead lover.

The gay actor has also appeared appeared in indie movies such as Manje, Murder.com,  Playing With Fire, Shut Up And Kiss Me, And Finding Mr Wright. However as the pics here show, any roles he scores should be ones where he’s forced to be without a shirt about 90% of the time. [Read more…]

Conan O’Brien Wants Homophobes To Have A Nice Christmas

December 10, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

American comedian/talk show host Conan O’Brien obviously wasn’t very impressed by the recent story where a US school teacher removed the word ‘gay’ from the Christmas Carol, Deck The Halls. The word was quickly put back in, as the principal felt the teacher should have taught the kids not to giggle, rather than chopping the word out of the song.

However it got Conan and his team thinking, and they came up with this, which should ensure that all homophobes can have a nice, gay-free Christmas!

Marvel Zeroes In On Thor 2 Directors

December 10, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

You would have thought that directing Thor 2 would be one of the most sought after jobs in Hollywood, especially as Marvel is going after little known names for the job. However it appears the studio wants to keep absolute control, which is causing issues and has already seen both Brian Kirk and Patty Jenkins bail on the movie (the latter leaving just last week).

However with a November 2013 release date already set, they need to get a director on board pretty soon. THR reports that Marvel is eyeing TV directors Alan Taylor and Daniel Minahan for the Thor 2 job, and that they’re also looking to bring on a new writer for the project.

Both directors have feature films under their belts, Alan Taylor with Palookaville and Daniel Minahan with Series 7: The Contenders, but both are primarily known for their TV work. Alan Taylor has directed episodes of Mad Men, Nurse Jackie, and Boardwalk Empire, while Daniel Minahan has directed for True Blood, The Good Wife, and Grey’s Anatomy. They have both directed episodes of the HBO series Game of Thrones, a show Marvel seems to be seeing as a template for Thor 2, as Brian Kirk also worked on that series.

There’s no info on who is the frontrunner, but expect to hear someone has been hired soon.

First Image From The Gangster Squad

December 10, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

There’s been a huge amount of interest in Hollywood in Gangster Squad ever since the script first started doing the rounds. It had a few problems securing a director, but then Ruben Fleishcher came onboard and a great cast was secured including Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Anthony Mackie, Nick Nolte, Michael Pena, and Giovanni Ribisi.

Now the first image from the movie has arrived via EW. Here’s what Fleischer had to say about the movie, “We’ve taken some creative license but tried to stay true to the original story and characters as much as possible. O’Mara (Josh Brolin), our lead character, has just come back from fighting the Nazis with all these ideals after seeing America at its greatest. And he’s come home and there’s a gangster running his city. While he was gone, Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) took over and he turned the streets of L.A. into a battle zone. In our story, O’ Mara takes the lead of the Gangster Squad, a vigilante police force that fights the gangsters on their own terms, and the battle between them is for the future of Los Angeles: whether it’s going to become corrupt and run by this bunch of gangsters or these guys who fought for these values and want L.A. to be the shining beacon on the west coast that it was always intended to be.

“Ryan’s character also went to war, but when he came back, he was a little disillusioned. So he’s more on the fence, hanging out in nightclubs and hanging out with guys who might be gangsters. He’s less clear on where he stands in terms of standing up against Mickey Cohen.”

Amazing Spider-man Poster Arrives

December 10, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

The first official teaser poster for The Amazing Spider-man has arrived via Superherohype, and while some may think it’s too dark and moody, we reckon it’s all kinds of cool. The tagline of ‘The Untold Story’ is kind of interesting too, as it suggests Sony realises there may be difficulties rebooting a franchise so soon after end of the Sam Raimi series. Early reports suggested the film would essentially be a parallel story to the one Raimi told, although there will definitely be major differenced (not least that Peter Parker is getting mechanical web-slingers rather than organic ones.

The movie stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans and hits cinemas on July 4th, 2012.

Battleship Trailer – Taylor Kitsch blows shit up!

December 9, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After the success of the Transformers franchise, it appears Hasbro feels the best way to ensure box office success is to explode everything you can (working with Michael Bay will have that effect on you). It certainly seems to be the logic in Battleship, as there’s a ridiculous amount of things blowing up and even the sound effects in this trailer are deliberately reminiscent of Tranformers. It’s looks fun though!

Certified hotties Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard and Liam Neeson star in the film, which sees a fleet of ships being forced to do battle with an armada of unknown origins in order to discover and thwart their destructive goals. Universal is hoping it’ll be huge at the box office next summer. Watch the trailer and see what you think, and we’ve got a brand new poster for the movie below. The film hits the UK April 20th.

Puss In Boots (Cinema)

December 9, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton
Director: Chris Miller
Running Time: 90 mins
Certificate: U
Release Date: December 9th, 2011

Shrek spin-off Puss In Boots has already had quite a lot of good reviews in the US, but it’s just the latest attempt by the liberal left in Hollywood to indoctrinate kids. Everyone knows that the natural state of cats is not to be in boots, but Dreamworks Animation and its media colleagues keep presenting this perversion of nature to us as if it’s something we should treat as normal. Not content with using the Shrek movies to warp young minds into thinking that cats in footwear are the equal of regular unshod felines, now they’re giving Puss In Boots a whole movie to himself!

It’s just plain wrong. It’s bound to cause children to start asking awkward questions about why Puss is wearing boots. It should be a parent’s decision how and when to broach such thorny subjects, not forced upon them by the all-powerful pro-shoes-for-cats agenda. Indeed it’s gotten to the point where right thinking people are afraid to stand up for what’s right and openly say Puss shouldn’t wear boots! [Read more…]

BGPS’s Advent Calendar Of Buff Blokes: Day 9 – Mike Vogel

December 9, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With all our previous Advent Calendars guy, there’s been a reason to include them, but Mike Vogel is just here because he’s had a good year and he’s very pretty to look at. For a long time Vogel’s been on the edge of breaking into the big time, but he’s never quite made it to the a-list.

Since his film debut in 2003, Vogel has appeared in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, Supercross, The Sister Of The Traveling Pants, Poseidon, Cloverfield and more. In the last couple of years we’ve seen him in Blue Valentine, She’s Out Of My League, The Help and What’s Your Number?, while he’s also taken regular roles in the TV series Miami Medical and Pan Am. The 60s set airline show in currently in severe danger of being cancelled, so he could be in need of a new job soon (Mike, if you read this, you can have a job in my bedroom anytime).

Whether the 32 year old will ever truly hit it big is yet to be seen, but as long as he’s around to look good, I for one won’t be complaining. [Read more…]

American Reunion Gets A New-Old Poster

December 9, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

They’re really trading on the nostalgia angle with American Reunion, at least for the early marketing. But then, after years of dodgy straight-to-DVD sequels without any of the film’s young stars and the fact those who grew up with the Pie gang are now reashing their 30s, it makes sense since they’ve got that whole cast back together for a catch-up.

The latest poster even apes the poster for the first movie. You can see exactly what I mean by comparing the new poster above with the one below from the original. American Reunion is due out April 6th.

The Lucky One Trailer – Zac Efron goes soldier

December 9, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Based on a Nicholas Sparks’ novel (Dear John, The Notebook), Zac Efron is getting his romantic lead on with The Lucky One. He plays U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault, who returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive – a photograph he found of a woman he doesn’t even know. Learning her name is Beth (Taylor Schilling) and goinf to where she lives, he shows up at her door and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm. To be honest the synopsis is a tad creepy, but the film looks like it could be okay.
