Homosexuality it a massively controversial subject in India at the moment, with moves to provide legal and social protections coming up against entrenched and very vocal homophobia in large sections of the population.
One film that tried to combat that was 2010’s Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyon, one of the few films to emerge from Bollywood with a sensitive gay theme (it’s billed as the first Indian film with two men kissing). The movie won several awards and became a success, despite protests greeting its premiere at the the Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival and many cinemas boycotting the movie.
As Gay Star News points out, one of the actors in the film, Yuvraaj Parashar, was even disowned by his parents for appearing in the movie, saying they did not want to see ‘his face even in death’.
Now a sequel is coming, and thankfully Parashar hasn’t let his experience with the first put him off as he’s returning alongside original cast members Kapil Sharma and Zeenat Aman.
The first film was a drama following a man exploring his gay identity, while the sequel is billed as more of a rom com.

For quite a while now, Daniel Radcliffe has been attached to 20th Century Fox’s upcoming version of Frankenstein. While the studio recently announced a release date of October 17th, 2014, there’s been no news on the rest of the cast, which is perhaps surprising as Radcliffe is playing what’s normally a side character, Igor.

World War Z was always planned as a franchise, but with its troubled production history – including the final third having to be completely reshot – many thought it would be lucky to get past a first movie. However, with the movie taking $66 million at the US box office in its opening weekend (analysts had been predicting about $40 million), and over $100 million in the rest of the world, it’s a strong enough start for Paramount Pictures to reveal they’re already moving forward with a sequel.

Richard Matheson became a sci-fi legend thanks to writing the likes of Stir of Echoes and I Am Legend. Sadly he has now passed away at the age of 87. The writer’s death was confirmed by his publisher, who revealed that he had been ill for some time now. An exact cause of death has not been released.
