New Doctor Strange Trailer – Benedict Cumberbatch may have made the weirdest Marvel movie yet

July 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

DOCTOR-STRANGE-PAYOFF-POSTER-slideIf this trailer is anything to go by, Marvel is meeting Inception with Doctor Strange, and Benedict Cumberbatch is going to have a slightly odd American accent. It does look pretty cool – if strange – though.

Cumberbatch plays Stephen Vincent Strange, a former neurosurgeon who becomes the next Sorcerer Supreme and primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats. Tilda Swinton will play Strange’s mentor, the Ancient One, while Chiwetel Ejiofor will appear as Baron Mordo, who also studies magic under the Ancient One, before becoming Doctor Strange’s nemesis. Mads Mikelsen is also onboard to play one of the main villains, as you will see in the trailer, while Rachel McAdams is Christine Palmer.

Scott Derrickson is directing the movie. It’ll be in cinemas November 2016. [Read more…]

The LEGO Batman Movie Comic-Con Trailer – Bruce Wayne gets his own brick-based film

July 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lego-batmanAfter the massive success of The LEGO Movie, Warner Bros. didn’t just put a sequel in the works, but also started planning films based on LEGO Batman and Ninjago. The first of those to arrive is The LEGO Batman Movie, which has just released a trailer to coincide with Comic-Con. It certainly looks like it’ll keep the fun tone of The LEGO Movie.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the irreverent spirit of fun that made “The LEGO® Movie” a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble – LEGO Batman – stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.’

What that doesn’t mention is the importance of him accidentally getting a ward, who becomes a rather different Robin than we’re used to. The film will be in cinemas early next year. [Read more…]

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Comic-Con Trailer – Eddie Redmayne heads into the Harry Potter world

July 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fantastic-beasts-slideSynopsis: ‘Set in the wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling and directed by David Yates. The film stars Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne, Colin Farrell, Ron Perlman, Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Gemma Chan, and Jon Voight.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.’

Take a look at the rather cool Comic-Con trailer below, which certainly manages to keep the Harry Potter feel, while also adding in a few new things (including an odd touch of Pokemon Go). Personally, I can’t wait! [Read more…]

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Comic-Con Trailer – Charlie Hunnam takes on the legendary tale

July 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

king-arthur-legends-of-the-sword-poster-slideGuy Ritchie seems to be doing to King Arthur what he did to Sherlock Holmes – mixing modern sentiment and action with historical tales, for something that’s not quite like anything you’d expect. A Comic-Con trailer has been released that gives us our best look so far.

Charlie Hunnam, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, Jude Law and Eric Bana star in the movie. It’s set for release next March (following a bit of a delay, as it was originally coming this summer).

Take a look at the pretty cool trailer below. Hunnam might actually make a better King Arthur than many originally thought her would. [Read more…]

Justice League Sizzle Reel – Take your first look at the superhero team-up

July 24, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

justic-league-sizzle-reelDespite the somewhat muted response to Batman v Superman, plans are still going full steam ahead for a Justice League movie, and to get fanboys excited, Warner Bros. unveiled a sizzle reel at Comic-Com. Luckily for us, they’ve put it on the internet so we can all take a look.

The footage gives us a look at Batman (Ben Affleck), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and more, as they start to team up to take on threats to humanity. There’s no Clark Kent, but anyone who’s seen Batman v Superman will know why they’re hiding him, despite the fact he will be in the movie.

Wonder Woman Trailer – Take your first proper look at Gal Gadot in the standalone adventure

July 23, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

wonder-woman-poster-slideWhile Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was introduced earlier this year in Batman v Superman, but while we’ve known she was getting a standalone adventure and have had a couple of pictures, it’s only know we get our first proper look at the movie. To tie-in with Comic Con the debut trailer has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Wonder Woman” is released in cinemas around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

‘Joining Gadot in the international cast are Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui. Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg, based on characters from DC Entertainment. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston. The film is produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Rebecca Roven, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with RatPac-Dune Entertainment, an Atlas Entertainment/Cruel and Unusual production, “Wonder Woman.” The film is scheduled for release on June 2, 2017, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.’ [Read more…]

Blair Witch Trailer – Adam Wingard’s The Woods revealed as a Blair Witch sequel

July 23, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

blait-witch-slideBack in May we posted the trailer for Adam Wingard’s The Woods, which came with a brief but bold synopsis stating that it would be  ‘One of the scariest movies in decades, THE WOODS reinvents horror with a completely fresh and terrifying take on the genre.’ However the trailer itself was deliberately strange and mysterious, with no plot details.

Now we know why, as they’ve deliberate been hiding something, which is that it’s a sequel to The Blair Witch Project, as revealed at Comic Con. The movie actually focuses on the brother of Heather Donahue’s character from the 1999 original, who comes across some new footage and so heads into the woods on Maryland with some friends in order to try and get some resolution.

Inevitably things take a creepier turn than they expected. It’ll be in cinemas in September. Take a look at the trailer for the film below. [Read more…]

New Snowden Trailer – Oliver Stone directs Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the whistleblower tale

July 23, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

joseph-gorden-levitt-as-edward-snowdenSnowden isn’t your usual Comic-Con fare, but the Oliver Stone film had a well-received panel in San Diego, which even included the real Edward Snowden participating via video link. For the rest of us, there’s a new trailer, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Academy Award®-winning director Oliver Stone, who brought Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, Wall Street and JFK to the big screen, tackles the most important and fascinating true story of the 21st century. Snowden, the politically-charged, pulse-pounding thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, reveals the incredible untold personal story of Edward Snowden, the polarizing figure who exposed shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world. He is considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others. No matter which you believe, the epic story of why he did it, who he left behind, and how he pulled it off makes for one of the most compelling films of the year.’

Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans, and Nicolas Cage also star.

Snowden was originally due to be released at the end of last year, however it was pushed back to September 2016. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]
